| PALS Teaches Humane Education at the San Marcos Nature Center |
Pet Prevent A Litter (PALS) of Central Texas taught humane education classes to 80 Mendez Elementary School students Thursday, May 13 at the San Marcos Nature Center.
The Nature Center is located at 430 Riverside Drive. Outdoor Kids’ Camp will be offered this summer where PALS will be providing humane education classes at these sessions.
Executive Director of PALS, Sharri Boyett, taught the children how to lovingly groom, feed and nurture their pets. They also learned about pet overpopulation and how to prevent it by spaying/neutering their animals.
PALS helps low income families and individuals through provision of free pet spay/neuter, vaccinations, and/or food. PALS "Helps pets and the people who love them." Now more than ever before, during the economic downturn, people need PALS’ assistance to keep their pets out of the shelters.
You can make a difference! Please join PALS in our mission to help end pet overpopulation. Members, volunteers, donors and sponsors are always needed.
PALS sponsors the PET FEST, a celebration of pets held every fall in San Marcos. The 8th annual PET FEST is scheduled for September 25, 2010.
The mission of Pet Prevent a Litter (PALS) of Central Texas, a non-profit corporation, is to help end pet overpopulation and pet homelessness. PALS is dedicated to promoting responsible pet care through community education and spay/neuter programs for those in need. Please call (512) 754-PALS (7257) to request assistance for pet spay/neuter services and humane education classes.

| TNRM 101 Class (Trap, Neuter, Return, Maintain) |
Do you feed outdoor cats? Concerned about their increasing numbers & safety? Learn why TNRM (Trap, Neuter, Return, Maintain) is the only method that works effectively. The workshop will provide tips and instructions on how to safely and humanely reduce the free-roaming cat population in your community. Trapping and killing cats is inhumane and does not stop the outdoor cat population from increasing.
The workshop will explain everything you need to know about the TNRM process, loan of traps, low-cost spay/neuter options, recovery protocols after spay/neuter surgery, how to help solve cat nuisance problems and safely manage outdoor cat populations.

We will have ongoing pet food collections for our Pet Food Pantry. Stop in to drop off your donation at locations below. We have a project to collect food and distribute it to those who cannot afford to purchase food for their pets. There are a lot of families in our area who are barely getting by and our hope is that the Pet Food Pantry will enable these families to keep their pets instead of surrendering them to already overburdened shelters. This project could use volunteers to help in almost every facet – collecting the food, identifying and screening clients, transporting food, writing grants to help fund the project, and more.
