NEW! PALS MERCHANDISE

Cans for a Cause

Green Guy Recycling in San Marcos has a great program called Cans for a Cause that we are proud to be part of.  Here’s the way it works:  you save aluminum cans and take them to Green Guy.  When they weigh them, tell them to put them on the PALS Cans for a Cause account.  They’ll give you a receipt and each month they send us a check for the amount of cans donated in our name.  You can count the receipt amount as a charitable donation for tax purposes so we all win.  You can get directions and hours by visiting their website at www.greenguyrecycling.net

Volunteer Opportunities

We need to fill a few key roles which are described below.  If you are interested in any of these jobs, contact Sharri Boyett.

Volunteer Coordinator

We are looking for an individual with the ability to lead, manage volunteers, work independently, communicate effectively on the phone, and via email and interact in a creative environment. We are looking for a leader who can organize details, put their thoughts and insights into action. The ideal individual will want to make a difference in the lives of companion animals and have an understanding about pet overpopulation.  Excellent organizational and communication skills required. Experience with managing others not required, but preferred.

The Volunteer Coordinator receives and processes all volunteer applications, assists with interviews with new volunteers, maintains volunteer records, tracks completed training for volunteers, hosts orientation meetings and volunteer appreciation events, and schedules quarterly training meetings.

Special Events Team

PALS holds events to help raise funds to underwrite daily operations as well as build PALS future. Won't you join us in celebrating our donors and supporting our cause? This team plans and executes special and regional events and works with the Board and Director on larger, more complex local events (PET FEST).

  • Managing, evaluating and expanding fundraising events under the direction of the Board and the Executive Director.
  • Assuming primary responsibility for all special events, including the Mutt Strutt, Bark in the Park (New Braunfels), restaurant events, future fundraising gala events and concerts
  • Working closely with volunteers to create a plan for marketing for each event.
  • Coordinating appropriate volunteer and planning with those committees for the execution of budgets, timelines, and logistics for each event.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records for each event, and submitting reports to the Treasurer and Executive Director for analysis and review.
